Week 1: # Forefront Architecture

The Future of Modern/Contemporary Art Building Architecture

With the rapid growth and development of technology, architectural designs are getting more sophisticated, useful, responsible and unique. Everything else, from building and construction documents, including rendering and drawing, is becoming enhanced and undemanding. Nevertheless, many organizations are embracing modern art architecture. Tate Modern is one such organization that built an ‘art is everywhere here’ kind of a building.

    • What is Contemporary Architecture?

The contemporary art building architecture is a bit different from that of the late 20th century. Here, the building style incorporates environmentally friendly elements with creative ideas. Moreover, it utilizes the latest technology and construction materials.

Technological Trends

    • VR

Currently, before construction, architects develop a design. VR has helped advance the construction and architectural industry. Through VR, architects can understand their projects’ design and the importance of engineering in the design’s development.

    • 3D Printing

Like VR, 3D printing is a technology that will enable engineers to solve issues of the choice of material and structural resilience.  In the future, extensive 3D printers will help architects develop incredible buildings and reach the real design’s limit. This eco-friendly technology could potentially replace concrete and revolutionise the sector of architecture. At this moment, it is possible to print just the walls, and the other components are using a traditional method. According to the International Energy Agency, the technology is designed to be a sustainable alternative to concrete, which accounts for approximately 7% of carbon dioxide emissions.

Qualities of Modern Architecture

    • Innovative and Creative Designs

The contemporary architecture uses state-of-the-art and artistic designs in building structures. There is an artistic logic that architects emphasize when designing these structures.

    • Uniformity or Contrast

Architectural designs include different building material combinations that can make them different or uniform. Moreover, one should expect to find contemporary design everywhere in the world, hence global.

    • Sustainable

The contemporary architectural design encourages the use of green energy such as solar panels. The engineers, designers, and architects are building architectural designs to be energy efficient.

    • Reinforced Concrete

It is possible to create building designs that are visually attractive and rare in different forms comprehendible due to the extensive usage of strengthened concrete.

Contemporary Art Building Architecture

Art had impacted architecture since the 19th century when architectural designers incorporated Art Nouveau’s expressive and organic style. In the early 20th century, modern architecture was borrowing its designing ideas from the artistic styles of Picasso, cubism. More building constructions began taking the shape of multiple cubes instead of a single piece.

However, contemporary architectural models took a new direction. Instead of taking on abstract forms, many designers and architects began embracing a minimalistic design. Unlike cubism and the Art Nouveau architectural designs, this minimalistic style does not incorporate designs’ that are detailed. Instead, it looks to have a better design that is simple from colour, detail, materials to space and form.

    • Future Architectural Trends

Undoubtedly, architects seem to borrow ideas from the art world. It is challenging to recognize a trend in art, especially if one is staying in it. Nevertheless, as the years’ progress, the internet and technology major influence artists who impact architects. Smarts cities are likely to be the trend in the future, with most structures going vertical due to space. Moreover, due to climate change and current global policies, designers and architects alike are likely to encourage eco-friendly architecture.

The contemporary art building architecture is becoming more advanced and easier to achieve with 3D rendering and modelling advancements. It helps designers and architects visualize a design before its actual construction. Virtual reality is also an undeniable technology that will surely take the architectural industry with a storm. Architects will be able to allow consumers to have an experience of a building before its construction.
